Snow Falling on Prunus

The mild winter punctuated with the occasional cold blasts gave way to an exceptionally early spring on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. By late February several of the Prunus cultivars joined Hamamelis in being the first to greet spring. The delicate pearl pink flowers of the ornamental cherry trees dared to brave the erratic temperatures only to become blanketed with the next snow.
